What changed in 2025 and 2026
Every branch now screens body composition with a waist-to-height ratio: your waist measurement divided by your height. The old height-and-weight charts are gone. The Army limit is under 0.55, the Marine Corps limit is 0.52, the Navy's first screen passes at 0.5499 or less, and the Air Force scores the ratio for up to 20 points of its fitness assessment.
The fitness tests changed too. The Army replaced the ACFT with the five-event Army Fitness Test in June 2025, with a higher sex-neutral standard for 21 combat specialties. The Air Force moved to a new scoring chart in March 2026. The Navy's current test guide is from December 2025. Marines in combat arms specialties take the PFT on the male tables with a 210 minimum from January 2026.
